On our way to my daughter Carmen's round robin basketball tournament in Aurora this morning I got to thinking about the sacrifices that parents make for their kids. This was not a random thought - I did NOT want to get up early and drive over an hour on treacherous roads this bitter cold Saturday morning. BUT I know how much being involved in school activities means to her, so I sucked it up, bundled up and took one for the team (ha, literally).
So here we sit in front of Resurrection Lutheran Church and School (an hour early) listening to my Florence + the Machine station on iheartradio. Carmen is half asleep on the seat next to me and I am feeling very grateful that God chose me to be responsible for such an amazing kid. I seriously could not have asked for a more loving, intelligent, empathetic and sweet child.
Back to the making sacrifices part of this rant...everyone makes sacrifices for the people and things that they love, but being a parent is the biggest sacrifice of all (in my opinion). When I first saw the faces of my babies, I knew it was all over...they already had my heart wrapped around their teeny tiny pinkie fingers. I guess that's what being a parent is...being able to give up who you are for who you were destined to be.
Great blog bb! I love you and I am very proud of you for doing this. Love, your hubby:)

ReplyDeleteWell is seems as if www.mirzwick.com is a running success. Seems that the idea of sacrifices for their children is not a new idea...is think I remember a cross and something to die for in there. I know that the reality hits home in the faces of the dear ones we have been intrusted with...I wonder what the actual sacrifices are...isn't that what we are about? For what we are...we are them...they are us...sorry still in that CHRISTmas feeling you talked about earlier...enjoy the .com or dreams...great job few days running! Sandman
